With the start of the high school golf season just a couple of weeks away, it was a solid day on the golf course Thursday for Todd County Central golfer Jase Paul Hampton. Hampton shot a round of 79 at the Bluegrass Golf tour event at Indian Hills Country Club in Bowling Green.

The round of 79 was good enough to place Hampton in a tie for 4th place on the day, along with Braydon Bond, of Richmond, Eli Stamper, of Scottsville, Tyler Dew, of Paducah, and Jase Cook, of Glasgow.

Rafe Blankenship, of Scottsville, took first place with a round of even-par 71. That was six shots better than second-place finisher Zach Buchanan, of Bowling Green. Dalton Hogan, of Bowling Green, was in third place with a round of 78.

Jase Paul Hampton got off to a slow start on the day. He shot eight-over par on the front nine but came back to shoot even par on the backside. The highlight of his round came on the par 5 13th hole, where Hampton came up with an eagle.

Hampton’s Todd Central teammate Cole Sawyers also played in the tournament. Sawyers finished the day in 27th place.
