Kentucky commit Koby Keenum with UK fans Brad Harrison, left, and Mike Kindred.

Getting a verbal commitment from Koby Keenum — the nation’s No. 3 center in the 2023 recruiting class — was a big deal for Kentucky last week.

Still, it is a long time until the December signing period and the Florence, Ala., star had close to 50 scholarship offers. However, based on a chance encounter with a couple of long-time UK fans Monday, it seems like Keenum is all-in with Kentucky just like he said when he made his college choice.

Brad Harrison and Mike Kindred were in Alabama with their wives. They are playing golf on some of the Robert Trent Jones courses in the state and were in Florence Monday.

“We were sitting in Chick-fil-A in Florence and this big guy walked in decked out in UK gear. Mike went up and asked him who he was,” Harrison said.

The big guy — Keenum is 6-4, 300 pounds — turned out to be Keenum wearing a UK hat and UK gym shorts.

“He was really nice and talked to us for a while,” Harrison said. “We knew him when he told us his name. He just committed a couple of days ago.”

Keenum was paying attention when Harrison posted a photo on Twitter of the three.

“Nice meeting y’all !!” Keenum posted on Twitter.

  1. Here is hoping he stays all in with UK. Tennessee is eating UK’s lunch on the recruiting trail for 2023, 24. Don’t understand why it’s taking the NCAA so long to bring the anvil down on UT’s head for recruiting violations during the Pruitt era. College football is beginning to be a nightmare with this NIL crap. UK’s new OC needs to start bringing in some talent, boys, or UK is going to get buried.
