It was a tale of two halves of the day Friday for the Trigg County Wildcats. The Wildcats were among the teams taking part in the Best of the West 7-on-7 passing tournament at the Stadium of Champions and Tie Breaker Park in Hopkinsville.

The Wildcats rolled through their pool in the morning session. Trigg picked up wins over Muhlenberg County (40-15), Whites Creek (29-15), and West Carroll (38-20).

After lunch, the pools were redone based on record during the morning session. Things got a bit tougher for the Wildcats in the afternoon.

Trigg lost to Pearl Cohn 36-14 in the afternoon opener. The Wildcats also had trouble slowing down Clarksville Northeast, as Northeast took the 53-16 win.

Trigg County then faced Logan County in their final game of the day. This one came down to the wire with the Wildcats scoring on an untimed down after a pass interference call on the Cougars. Trigg County would pick up the win 25-19.

Trigg County will return to play Saturday morning as they start action in the tournament bracket. The Wildcats, who are seeded third, will take on the winner of the game between Macon County and Hopkins Central at 9:30.
