Kentucky continues to add talent at receiver and got a huge addition for its 2023 recruiting class when Springfield, Ohio, four-star prospect Anthony Brown verbally committed to the Cats over Cincinnati, Michigan, Oklahoma and Penn State.
The 5-10, 170-pound Brown is rated as the eighth-best prospect in Ohio by Rivals.com in the 2023 recruiting class and the nation’s 44th best receiver.
Kentucky coaches feel he is “WanDale Robinson 2.0” in reference to last year’s star UK receiver and Brown told 247Sports Saturday that what Robinson did in 2021 stood out to him. Playing in the SEC also appealed to Brown, a one-time Minnesota commit.
It’s no surprise that Brown also confirmed that UK recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow, an Ohio native, has visited his high school often and he knew Marrow before he even started high school.
Brown also liked new offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello’s NFL background and what he did with the San Francisco 49ers.
Brown projects as a slot or boundary receiver but could also be used in other words just like Robinson was last year.
Kentucky now has 12 commitments for the 2023 recruiting class, including four out-of-state verbals in the last two weeks. Brown is the third receiver in the group joining Shamar Porter of Nashville, TN., and Jakob Dixon of Louisville.
