Blankenship’s Strong Finish Brings Home Cullan Brown Title

Rafe Blankenship was watching his first-round six-shot lead at the Cullan Brown Invitational slip away Tuesday. Then, the Allen County Scottsville senior went to work.

Blankenship birdied six of the final eight holes to claim a five-shot win over Marshall County’s Trey Wall in the high school division of the Bluegrass Golf Tour event at the Calvert City Country Club.

Blankenship ended the day with a two-under-par 70. He and Wall were the only two golfers to shoot in the red for the two days.

Glasgow’s Bo Shelton finished in third place at one over par. Marshall County’s David Morris tied for fourth at two-over par and his high school teammate Ryan Stokes was sixth at three-over-par.

Trigg County’s Hunter Reynolds tied for eighth place at five-over for the two days.
