
Emma Talley shot a 1-under par 70 Thursday morning in the first round of the Amundi Evian Championship in Evian-les-Bains, France.
Talley birdied three of her first eight holes and briefly held the lead in the event early Thursday morning.
But she recorded two bogeys on her second nine to finish at 1-under overall.
Talley carded a 3-under 33 on her first nine holes, which was the back nine on Thursday. She was then 2-over 37 on the front side of the course.
That has her tied for 39th after one round.
Ayaka Furue leads the event after an 8-under 63 in the first round.
The Evian Championship is one of five majors on the LPGA Tour.
The second round is set for Friday. Talley will tee off on No. 1 at 12:27 p.m. in France, 5:27 a.m. Central time.
The Amundi Evian Championship is the first of four consecutive LPGA Tour events to be played across Europe. The Tour next heads to Scotland for the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open. The season’s fifth and final major will be the AIG Women’s Open the first women’s competition held at the famed Muirfield course in Scotland, followed by the ISPS Handa World Invitational in Northern Ireland.
