
It was a nice way to start the soccer preseason for the Hopkinsville Tigers. The Tigers traveled to Russellville Saturday morning and came away with a 7-1 win in the first of their two scrimmages.
Hoptown got things rolling quickly in the match. Nick Klar scored goals at 12:30 and 24:30 to give the Tigers a quick 2-0 lead.
David Lopez found the net off a deflected shot at 29:15 to give Hopkinsville a 3-0 lead going into the break.
Lopez scored again on a header just under seven minutes into the second half to extend the lead to 4-0. Three minutes later George Baker scored to move the Hopkinsville lead out to 5-0.
The Panthers snuck one in just under the crossbar at 56:20 to trim the lead to 5-1.
Haydon Cowherd and Alex Ramirez found the net for the Tigers over the final 13 minutes to get to the final 7-1 margin.
The Tigers final scrimmage is set for Thursday when they take on Heritage Christian.
