The Caldwell County Tigers rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at Webster County in season-opening action Monday in Dixon.

Caldwell saw the homestanding Trojans get goals from Evan DeLamar and Cade Howell in the 3rd and 15th minutes to build their 2-0 edge.

But the Tigers got back in the game when Nick Adams scored in the 37th minute, making it a 2-1 ballgame at halftime. Adams dribbled in from the left side, then beat a defender and the keeper to put the ball into the right side of the net.

Caldwell knotted the score at 2-2 in the 44th minute when Colt Babb converted a penalty kick. Webster keeper Jesus Martinez originally appeared to make a save on the PK. However, the official ruled that the ball had not been whistled into play. The Tigers were given another attempt, and Babb made good into the left corner of the net.

Neither team could find the net the rest of the way in what was a competitive, physical contest.

Corbin Nichols was solid in the net for Caldwell and the Tiger defense did not allow many second-half scoring opportunities for the Trojans.

Caldwell’s guys are off until next Tuesday when they host Heritage Christian Academy of Hopkinsville in a 2nd Region All A Classic contest.
