Coming off their best season in four years, the Trigg County Lady Wildcats are ready to take the next step and become a perennial region player on the soccer pitch.

Trigg returns seven starters from last year’s 10-7-1 team that lost to Lyon County in the district championship and fell to Hopkinsville 3-1 in the region tourney.

The Lady Wildcats feature more youth and athleticism than last year and return leading scorer Lania Hite. The junior scored 28 goals in 17 games last year in earning All-Region honors and has 42 goals in two seasons.

Her sister Leiah Hite is expected to crack the lineup as a freshman at left forward, while sophomore Hallie Joiner is penciled in at the other forward spot.

The return of senior midfielders Olivia Noffsinger and Alyssa Southwood and freshman Maggie Wolfe give the Lady Wildcats an explosive front that could give opposing defenses a tough time.  Noffsinger and her booming leg earned her All-District honors as a junior.

Junior Avery Ethridge gives the Lady Wildcats more experience in the middle.

The young additions will help overcome the loss of All-District player Camryn Boone who suffered a knee injury in the offseason and is expected to miss most of the season.

Trigg has two starters returning on defense and two freshmen that will be looked to build on a unit that allowed just 33 goals in 18 games.

Junior Zoe Miller and sophomore Isabella Detweiler return at backs while freshman Addison Humphries steps in at stopper. Her sister Brooke will play the sweeper spot.

Back in goal is senior Sarah Sink who earned All-District honors after posting a 1.9 goals against average. That was actually up slightly from her sophomore season GAA of 1.6.

Noffsinger, Southwood, and Sink are three seniors that will play vital roles. Trigg is also blessed with a junior varsity roster that is 18-deep and waiting in the wings for 2023.

Trigg has given the program sustainability with the same coaching staff for the past two seasons. That has translated into a single message and style that is relayed to the field and resulted in 18 wins in the past two seasons.

Trigg County opens its 2022 season Tuesday at home against Murray High.
