While the numbers are much better, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels are still a young team with players learning their roles for the 2022 season. So, opening against the defending 3rd Region champions, who also won a game in the state tournament last season, was going to be a tall challenge for the Lady Rebels.
Ohio County used five second-half goals to pull away from Todd County Central and take an 8-1 win on their home field Thursday night. The Lady Eagles held a 3-0 lead at the break.
Madison Henderson found the net for the only goal for the Lady Rebels. Henderson scored off a second-half penalty kick for Todd County Central.
Lady Rebels goalie Darby Delph, despite being under fairly consistent pressure throughout the match, still managed to come up with 13 saves in goal.
Todd County Central (0-1) is now off until Tuesday when they go on the road to take on Logan County in a 13th District matchup.
