Wildcats Impress in Final Tuneup to 2022 Season

Trigg County put forth a stout defensive effort in its final football scrimmage before the start of the 2022 season next Friday. The Wildcats held Russellville to 72 yards in claiming a 42-6 win at historic Rhea Stadium.

The game was played under down-and-distance and timed conditions. After 24 minutes of game time, the teams sent the junior varsity out for 20 plays each.

Jacob Wease shook off a slow start to complete 9-of-14 passes for 171 yards. He connected on his final seven passes of the scrimmage.

Jhaden Vaughn caught three passes for 73 yards, while Jerimyah Shearer contributed three catches for 71 yards.

Kelsey Parham ran for 80 yards on 10 carries. He rushed for three touchdowns and had a scoop-and-score on defense.

Trigg’s offense totaled 259 yards on 27 plays for an average of 9.6 yards per snap.

Olivia Noffsinger, looking to become the first female full-time kicker in Trigg’s history, was 6-for-6 on extra points.

However, it was the defensive unit that shined in the scrimmage. Russellville ran 29 plays with 22 going for zero or negative yards.

Russellville ran 15 times for minus-9 yards. Their lone score came on a 60-yard pass with six seconds left in the half.

Trigg’s defense also recorded four sacks.

Trigg County will open the 2022 football season Friday at Perdue Field against Todd County Central.

Kelsey Parham had a scoop-and-score as one of his four touchdowns Friday.
