The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers came close to picking up their first win of the season Saturday evening but just missed. For the second time in the opening week of the 2022 soccer season, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers took on a team out of the Bowling Green area Saturday evening as they hosted Warren Central, with the Lady Dragons coming away with a hard-fought win.

Central senior Alexandra Rodriguez scored the only goal of the night for either team at the 24:40 mark as the Lady Dragons claimed a 1-0 win over the Lady Tigers.

The game was a defensive battle from there, with Warren Central fending off a Hopkinsville rally in the final minutes that saw the Lady Tigers get some good looks and get two corner kick plays.

Grace Cansler had a great look at the goal in the opening half that would have given the Lady Tigers an early lead, but the shot just missed, bouncing off the left goalpost.

Morgan Woosley had a penalty kick opportunity in the second half but the Warren Central goalie made the biggest defensive play of the night for the Lady Dragons to help preserve the win.

The loss drops Hopkinsville to 0-2 on the season. The Lady Tigers are back in action Monday evening when they travel to take on McCracken County.
