The UHA Blazers capped off a busy first week of the soccer season Saturday with a trip across the lakes to take on Calloway County. The Lakers’ defense limited the opportunities for the Blazers with Calloway County taking a 4-0 win.
The loss may be a costly one for the Blazers headed into this week’s semifinals and finals of the All A Classic. Senior Ethan Hale was hit with a red card near the 15:00 mark which would make him unavailable for the Blazers in Tuesday night’s All A Regional semifinal against Lyon County.
Playing shorthanded for most of the match, the Blazers had trouble getting into an offensive flow, while the Lakers found the nets four times on the other end of the field.
Goalie Quinton Quarles finished the match with 11 saves for the Blazers.
The loss drops the Blazers to 1-2 on the season. They return to action Tuesday evening when they host Lyon County in the semifinals of the All A Classic.
