Travis Perry is well known for putting up big numbers on the basketball court.

He’s also shown he can shoot low numbers on the golf course.

The Lyon County junior fired a 2-over-par 74 on Saturday to claim medalist honors in the 2nd Region All A Classic golf tournament, which was played at Deer Lakes Golf Course in Salem.

Low scores were hard to come by on a difficult course, with just two players breaking 80 on the day.

Crittenden County’s Jeremiah Foster was runner-up with a 78, helping the Rockets edge Caldwell County by two shots for the team title.

Perry started his day with a birdie on the par-4 1st hole and was even through 10 holes. Bogeys on Nos. 11, 15 and 16 pushed him to 3-over, but Perry birdied the par-5 18th hole to finish his day, going 36 on the front and 38 on the back.

Foster shot 39s on each side to finish second and will go to state with the rest of his Crittenden teammates.

Luke Shouse of University Heights Academy placed third with an 81 and also earned a berth at the state All A Classic.

Caldwell County’s Collin Whittington took fourth in the regional with an 83.

Crittenden’s Grayson Davidson was fifth at 84.

Austin Crick of Caldwell and Gage Smiley of Dawson Springs were next at 85.

The state tournament will be played Sept. 11 at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.
