Cole rhymes with ‘sole’ which is how University Heights Academy runner Cole Glover will be referred to for this season — UHA’s sole varsity runner.
Glover is used to running by himself, mostly at the front of the pack, which is where he was again Saturday at the Christian County Season Opener.
Glover finished in fifth place, covering the 3.1-mile course in a time of 17:38 which was a handful of seconds away from his personal best.
Trigg County’s Austin Cavanaugh won the race with a time of 16:40. Glover was the first Class A runner to finish the race, edging Fort Campbell’s Billy Lubas by 14 seconds. Those two are expected to contend for the Class A region title this year.
