It’s hard to imagine that a soccer match that ends with an 8-1 score was not even really that close. But that was just the case for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels Tuesday night in their 13th District soccer match against Franklin-Simpson.

Behind a huge night from Madison Henderson, the Lady Rebels controlled the match from the moment the ball was put into play.

Henderson got Todd Central on the boards at the 08:00 mark when she took a ball right in front of the goal and put it in the net to give the Lady Rebels an early 1-0 lead. Henderson would score again at the 34:15 mark when she spun in front of the goal and drilled the shot to move the lead out to 2-0, which is where the score would stand at the break.

Henderson came out of the break and picked up right where she left off, scoring a pair of goals to run the lead to 4-0. After a goal from Ciara Collins, Henderson would score her fifth goal of the match to make it a 6-0 lead.

Melanie Chamberlaine drilled a long left-footed shot at 67:20 to make it 7-0. Hannah Oliver joined the scoring party at 72:10 to extend the margin to 8-0.

Franklin-Simpson would score off a deflected direct kick in the final moments of the game against Todd Central reserves to get to the final 8-1 score.

How dominating was the performance from the Lady Rebels? Starting goalie Darby Delph only had to make one save while she was in goal as the defense in front of her simply refused to let the Lady Wildcats get close to the goal.

After scoring just three goals in their first three matches plus seventy minutes of their 4th match, the Lady Rebels have now scored 11 goals in the last 90 minutes of play.

The win is the Lady Rebels first of the season and improves them to 1-3-1. Todd Central is back at home Thursday when they host Warren East.
