Trigg County’s girls ran their winning streak to four straight games behind a six-goal performance from junior Lania Hite.
The Lady Wildcats (4-1 overall, 1-0 district) scored four of the final five goals of the contest to defeat Lyon County 6-3 in 5th District soccer action at Lee S. Jones Park in Eddyville on Monday.
Hite got help from Maggie Wolfe in the 27th minute to put Trigg up 1-0.
Lyon (2-4, 0-1) countered with an unassisted tally from Anna White in the 33rd minute to tie things at halftime.
Hite struck again in the 41st minute to put the Wildcats in front, this time off an assist from sister Leiah Hite.
But, again, Lyon answered with a goal from Alice Smith in the 45th minute to knot the score at 2-2.
The next three goals belonged to Trigg, though. More precisely, they belonged to Hite.
She scored off another Wolfe assist in the 51st minute, then netted an unassisted tally in the 55th minute.
Hite knocked home a penalty kick in the 62nd minute to extend the Trigg advantage to 5-2.
Smith netted her second goal for Lyon in the 64th minute, scoring off a corner kick from White.
But Hite responded just a minute later with help from Payton Southwood to make it a 6-3 contest.
Trigg outshot Lyon 29-17 in the match.
Sarah Sink recorded 11 saves for the Lady Wildcats while Maddie Russell had 10 stops for the Lady Lyons.
Monday’s game wasn’t the first time this season that Hite has scored six times in a game. Hite had six goals in an 11-1 win over Union County a week earlier. She had five goals in a 10-1 victory over Todd County Central last Thursday.
Hite is now third on the Lady Wildcats’ all-time scoring list with 60 career goals. She has scored 18 goals in five matches this season.
Trigg’s girls are off until a Kentucky 2A sectional match against Paducah Tilghman next Monday in Cadiz. A home date later this week against Mayfield has been canceled.
Lyon is in action again on Tuesday when it travels to Christian County.
