The Trigg County Lady Wildcats will have to wait at least another couple of nights to pick up their first win of the 2022 volleyball season. The Lady Wildcats fell at home Tuesday evening to the Murray Lady Tigers in straight sets 25-16, 25-6, and 25-19.
The opening set saw the Lady Wildcats fall behind 18-8. Trigg would fight back and get to within 19-16 before seeing Murray score the final six points of the set to take the 1-0 lead in the match. we eventually cut that to 16 to 19 before losing out in the opening set. Ava Scheer and Ashlynn Koch had 2 kills each in the set. Grace White added 3 aces.
Murray controlled the second set from beginning to end in rolling to the 25-6 win and taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
Trigg County battled the Lady Tigers in the third set, taking the lead on several occasions. A big part of the improved play in the set was the serving of Ashlynn Koch, who had 4 aces in the set. The Lady Wildcats were in the thick of it at 18-18 in the set, but Murray would close out the set and the match with a 7-1 run to complete the sweep.
The loss drops Trigg County to 0-10 on the year. The Lady Wildcats hit the road Thursday evening to take on Webster County.
