
It turned out to be a good day Saturday for the Hopkinsville Tigers in the Russellville Panther Classic. The Tigers picked up a pair of wins over Russellville and Barren County.
In the opener, the Tigers picked up a 10-0 mercy rule win over the host Panthers. Gabe Harton led the Hopkinsville effort with three goals. Spencer Powell, David Lopez, and Nickolaus Klar added two goals each. Bryan Fernandez also found the net for the Tigers.
Harton, Lopez, Fernandez, Alex Rameirez, and Thieng Nguyen had one assist each.
Goalie Kenneth McMickens had four saves in the match.
The second match of the day was a bit more competitive as Hoptown came away with a 3-1 win over the Barren County Trojans. Spencer Powell, David Lopez, and Nickolaus Klar found the net for the Tigers.
Bryan Fernandez assisted on two of the scores.
In addition to just allowing one goal, Kenneth McMickens had six saves in goal for Hopkinsville.
With the two wins, Hopkinsville now improves to 4-3 on the season. The Tigers are set to get back to action Tuesday night when they host Butler County at the Stadium of Champions.
