The Todd County Central Rebels continue to make a statement in the opening weeks of the 2022 soccer season. The Rebels completed their appearance in the Scotties Classic in Glasgow with a 4-0 win Saturday afternoon over the Russell County Lakers.

The win was the 6th straight for the Rebels, who have yet to lose on the season, and was their sixth shutout of the season.

The Rebels took care of Got Russell County with another first-half blitz. Just two minutes into the match Aaron Mansfield hit a crossing pass that Chris Salazar finished by putting it into the net to put Todd Central up 1-0.

Then Cam Wheelock and Grady Reding got going. At the 8 and 10-minute marks, Reding was able to send crossing passes in that Wheelock headed in right in front of the Lakers’ keeper to run the lead out to 3-0.

Wheelock would complete his hat trick in the final moments of the game, scoring with under two minutes to go to get to the final four-goal margin.

Another big match for Jonah Rager in goal, as he came up with six saves and left a goose egg in the opponent’s side of the scoring column.

With their win earlier in the day over Hart County, the Rebels are now 8-0-1 on the season and have given up just three goals in nine matches.

Todd Central will return to action in a 13th District matchup Thursday night when they host Russellville.
