A solo eighth-place finish in the CP Women’s Open in Canada led to a nice payday for Emma Talley and a significant jump up the Race to the CME Globe point standings.

Talley shot rounds of 65, 70, 68 and 68 to finish at 13-under-par 271 at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario.

That gave the Caldwell County High School grad her second Top 10 finish of the season and allowed her to pocket $58,396.

It also moved the former national champion at the University of Alabama from 87th to 72nd in the Race to the CME Globe season points list.

The Race to the CME Globe is a season-long points competition in which LPGA Members accumulate points in every Official LPGA Tournament to gain entry into the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship, which will be played in November. The top 60 in the points standings qualify for the Tour Championship.

Talley hit 47 of 52 fairways and 59 of 72 greens in regulation in the CP Women’s Open, which is the national championship of Canada. She averaged 29 putts per round, but needed just 27 while shooting the 3-under 68 in Sunday’s final round.

Talley was six shots behind champion Paula Reto, who held off Nelly Korda and Hye-Jin Choi for a one-stroke victory.

Talley has earned $172,534 this season, moving her career earnings on the LPGA Tour to $1,120,268.

She has nine career Top 10 finishes.
