Trigg County hadn’t played against much adversity since an opening game loss to Caldwell County but on Tuesday, they saw plenty.

Crittenden County had the Lady Wildcats down 1-0 midway through the second half despite getting outshot by Trigg.

Maggie Wolfe got Trigg on the board with a long shot from out top in the 61st minute. Each team had its chances to break the tie but came up short.

When Olivia Noffsinger scored with four minutes left, it gave Trigg it’s first lead of the night at 2-1. Lania Hite followed over a minute later to give Trigg what it thought would be the dagger.

However, Taylor Guess quickly answered less than a minute later to draw Crittenden to within 3-2. For Guess, it was her second goal of the game. Her penalty kick in the 30th minute was the only goal for the game’s first 76 minutes.

The goal flurry wasn’t finished as Leiah Hite sent a left-footed strike home inside the final minute to finish off the four-goal in four-minute finish for the game.

Trigg County outshot Crittenden 25-13.

The Lady Wildcats moved to 6-1 with its sixth straight win — Trigg’s longest in three seasons. They also improved to 2-0 in district play with their 14th straight win over the Lady Rockets dating back to 2016.

Crittenden’s record evened to 3-3-1.

Trigg County will play Webster County Thursday in the semifinals of the Class 2A Sectional at Hopkins County Central.
