
The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers are now on a bit of a roll. The Lady Blazers picked up their tenth straight win Thursday night, rolling past Hopkinsville in straight sets in an 8th District battle.
The Lady Blazers opened quick, taking the first set 25-7.
The second set saw more of the same, with UHA again taking a 25-7 win to go up 2-0 in the match.
Not much changed over the third and final set as the Lady Blazers outscored the Lady Tigers 25-9 to complete the match sweep.
Suzie Comperry and Evelyn Cotthoff both had big service runs in the match. In the second set, Cotthoff rattled off 11 points. She also had a total of 4 aces and 7 digs. Comperry was at the serve when the Lady Blazers scored 13 in a row in the third set. She also had 7 aces, 3 digs, and 1 solo block on the night. Julia Thomas led the attack at the net with 13 kills. Olivia Oakley added 6 kills, 2 aces, and 1 dig. Sarah Peebles had 26 assists, 7 digs, and an ace.
UHA improves to 12-2 on the season. The Lady Blazers are set to be back in action next Thursday when they travel to Elkton to take on the Todd County Central Lady Rebels in a battle of two teams that are headed for the All A state volleyball tournament.
The loss drops the Lady Tigers to 1-4 for the year. They return to action next Tuesday when they host the Hopkins Central Lady Storm.
