The Trigg County Lady Wildcats continue to make strides as they rebuild their volleyball program and seek a return to the region tournament.
Trigg led in all three sets of its Friday matchup with Livingston Central at Wildcat Gym. However, issues in their serve and receive game cost the Lady Wildcats at key times and resulted in its 25-20, 25-19, 25-14 loss.
Trigg jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the opener. After Livingston Central got to within 6-4, they reeled off seven straight points to grab an 11-6 lead. Bailey Guill had three aces for the Lady Cardinals during their run.
Trigg got to within 13-10, but Livingston Central stretched the lead to 21-11. Abigail Johnson had three aces to get Trigg to within 23-18 but no closer.
The Lady Wildcats led the second set 9-5 but Livingston rallied to tie the score at 9, 11, and 12. Brooklyn Rupke and Victoria Joiner each had a pair of kills as the Lady Cardinals pushed their advantage to 17-12. Trigg would get as close as 20-17 but Livingston closed out the set for the 25-19 win.

Trigg led 2-1 early in the third set but communication breakdowns doomed the Lady Wildcats and they fell 25-14.
Trigg dropped to 0-2 in district play at 0-14 this season. In its first loss to Livingston Central on August 16, Trigg scored just 33 points in the three-point loss. They scored 53 on Friday.
Livingston Central improved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the district.
Trigg County will travel to Crittenden County Tuesday and will host Union County in the Class 2A Sectional Thursday at Wildcat Gym.
