
The Christian County Lady Colonels dropped a trio of matches Saturday at one of Western Kentucky’s big in-season volleyball events. The Lady Colonels traveled to Henderson County to compete in the annual Jerry Mezur Spikefest.
Christian County took to the court for matches against Henderson County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, and Muhlenberg County.
In the match against 2nd Region contender Henderson County, the southern Lady Colonels gave a solid effort but still fell in straight sets to the northern Lady Colonels. Henderson won the opening set 25-18 and then closed out the sweep with a 25-16 win in the second set.
The Lady Colonels put up a fight against Muhlenberg County. The Lady Mustangs took a hard-fought first set 26-24. Muhlenberg County then rolled through the second set 25-14 to finish the match at 2-0.
The final match for the Lady Colonels was against the Lady Maroons. Christian County pushed Madisonville to the limit in the opening set before falling 25-23. The Lady Maroons then closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the second set.
The Lady Colonels now stand at 1-6 on the season. They get a return match against Madisonville Tuesday night in Colonel Gym.
