Crittenden County got a golden goal from freshman Ella Geary and beat Lyon County 3-2 in overtime Thursday night in 5th District soccer action in Eddyville.

The Lady Rockets’ Taylor Guess had tied the game at 2-2 in the latter part of the second half with her second goal of the contest.

Lyon County (6-6 overall, 0-2 district) took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on a goal by Alice Smith.

Guess picked up her first tally in the 33rd minute to knot the game at 1-1.

But the Lady Lyons struck again just before halftime.

Kyndal Hubbard found the net in the 37th minute to push Lyon in front 2-1 at the break.

But Lyon, which had won its last 11 meetings with Crittenden, could not hold on to that lead.

Instead, Crittenden (5-3-1, 1-1) rallied for its first win over the Lady Lyons since the 2017 season.

Joslyn Silcox added an assist for Crittenden while Hannah Long had 10 saves.

Maddie Russell recorded 13 stops in the Lyon net.

Crittenden will host district foe Trigg County on Tuesday.

Lyon plays again next Thursday, going to Crittenden for a rematch.
