Hopkinsville battled Calloway County to a draw, but fell to West Jessamine in action Saturday in the Boots and Butts Classic at the Stadium of Champions.

Hoptown was less than a minute away from a win against Calloway when a late goal allowed the Lakers to earn a 2-2 tie.

Neither team found the net in the first half.

But Calloway (7-3-2) got the scoring started midway through the second half when Kolt Bazzell headed home a corner kick from in front of the net. Canaan Bazzell picked up the assist on the play.

Hopkinsville countered minutes later when Nickolaus Klar ran onto a through ball from Bryan Fernandez and beat the keeper to the left to make it a 1-1 game.

The Tigers then took the lead when Miguel Magana flicked a long free kick from Gabe Harton over the keeper and into the net.

It looked as though Hoptown would make that 2-1 lead hold up, but Calloway found the net again with about 30 seconds left in the contest.

Jude Bazzell picked up the tying goal with help from Ethan Carson.

Kenneth McMickens had 13 saves in the Hoptown net.

Hunter Williams recorded five stops for Calloway.

The Tigers were then shut out by West Jessamine 3-0.

McMickens had 12 saves in that match.

The Colts (4-4-4) got two goals from Vasyl Soloshchuk and one goal from Spencer Brown.

Hopkinsville (5-5-1) will play at home again on Thursday when the Tigers host Muhlenberg County.
