Make it eleven shutouts on the season for the Todd County Central Rebels. The latest one came Tuesday evening as they blanked the Trigg County Wildcats 3-0 in Elkton.
The Trigg County defense kept the Wildcats in the match. In fact, had it not been for an own goal the match would have been scoreless at the half. The Rebels were able to have a 1-0 lead at the half after a defensive play from Tanner Henderson led to a Wildcat defender turning towards his own goal as he was trying to clear the ball.
As it has been much of the season, the Rebel defense was the story Tuesday night. The defense kept the clamps on the Wildcats until the Todd Central offense was able to secure the win.
Early in the second half, Tanner Henderson scored off a pass from Zack Robinson to extend the lead to 2-0.
With about ten minutes left in the match, Ivan Lopez took a long throw from Trey Osborne and took it to the goal to move the lead to 3-0.
In a stat that indicates how well the Rebel defense played, goalie Jonah Rager was only forced to make one save in the match as much of the match was played in the Trigg County end of the field.
The Rebels now stand at 15-2-1 on the year. They wrap up the regular season Thursday night hosting Christian County.
Trigg County falls to 2-16-1. The Wildcats finish the regular season Thursday on the road at Webster County.
