If you ever thought you would be reading about a Kane Brown concert that involved Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari, you have a more diversified perspective than I have.

Brown is a 29-year-old country music singer who is best known for his hit singles ‘What Ifs’, ‘Heaven’ and ‘Used to Love You Sober.’ He’s a multi-platinum, 5-time AMA award-winning entertainer.

So what is his connection with Calipari?

Brown is going to headline a concert Oct. 28 at Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati that will benefit McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative. This cause was founded by Calipari and Harvard’s Tommy Amaker and aims to provide “minorities a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network, and instilling the values of John McLendon: Integrity, education, leadership, and mentorship.”

Other coaches heavily involved in this program are Kansas’ Bill Self and Alabama’s Nick Saban as well as Cincinnati basketball coach Luke Fickell Wes Miller, Cincinnati football coach Luke Fickell and Xavier basketball coach Sean Miller.

Calipari said he plans to be at the concert.

“It’s exciting to continue to bring awareness to the McLendon Leadership Initiative with opportunities like the Kane Brown Charity Concert. We are also so appreciative of Cincinnati companies ProLink and G3 Marketing who have been instrumental in helping me scale this program,” Calipari said in a news release about the concert.

Kane starts his “Drunk or Dreaming” Tour not long after this concert, which will be the first concert at UC’s Arena since its renovation. Nashville-based Restless Road will open the show.

Tickets are on-sale now at KaneBrownCharityConcert.com.

I even found out that Kane will be performing in St. Augustine Amphitheatre June 2 and 3 from friends here in St. Augustine.
