Vince Marrow denies having any “extra juice” for South Carolina but won’t deny there is a strong rivalry with the Gamecocks.
“It doesn’t matter who we are playing but for some reason, we are kind of a rival. Both teams will be ready to go,” said the Kentucky associate coach.
South Carolina has scored over 50 points in two straight non-conference wins while UK is coming off a disappointing 22-19 loss at Ole Miss. Marrow said Kentucky doesn’t want to lose any games but he could tell the loss at Mississippi was different.
“The way we lost… it was the first time I have seen the team still sitting 10 minutes after the game and nobody had moved,” Marrow said. “It hurt. Our guys will be ready. They do not want that feeling any more.”
Marrow said when UK was down 14-0 at Ole Miss, there was no panic. Same at halftime when Kentucky was still behind.
“We have got great leadership on our team. Everybody looked at each other and knew we were going to win,” Marrow said. “The way we lost it, guys are not used to that feeling. Everybody was in here Sunday, including a lot of guys on their own watching film.”
