Austin Cavanaugh’s 8th Place Leads Trigg at Daviess County

A Top 10 finish from Austin Cavanaugh led the way Saturday for the Trigg County Wildcat cross-country team at the Daviess County Classic at Yellow Creek Park. The Wildcats finished in 13th place for the event, which is one of the top cross-country meets in Western Kentucky.

Apollo won the meet with 131 points. Grayson County finished second, while Madisonville-North Hopkins placed third.

Cavanaugh finished his race in a time of 16:11.7, which was good enough to place him 8th. Brendan Nagle, of John Hardin, was first with a time of 15:48.4. Drew Burden, of Madisonville-North Hopkins, finished second, with Layden Wagoner, of Webster County, placing third.

Trigg County finishes for the day;

Austin Cavanaugh – 8th place
David Cavanaugh – 43rd place
Riley Thompson – 48th place
Levi Watts – 178th place
Matthew Reeves – 180th place

More than 300 runners took part in the boys’ race.
