
The Christian County volleyball team earned its fourth straight win and advanced to the 8th District championship match with a 3-0 semifinal victory over hosts Fort Campbell on Tuesday.
The Lady Colonels took control early in the opening set, building a 12-2 lead after three straight aces by Skylar Kirby. They continued to add to the margin with the serve, leading 23-10 after three aces from Hailey Sparks and going on to a ten-point victory.
The teams were tied seven times to start the 2nd set, the last coming at 15-15, but four aces in a row by Sparks sent the Lady Colonels to a 25-16 win and a 2-0 lead.
In the final set, a pair of aces by Rylee Owens gave Christian County a 17-8 cushion and forced a Fort Campbell timeout, but the Lady Colonels maintained the momentum out of the break on the way to a 25-15 win.
Sparks led the way with 11 kills and seven digs for the Lady Colonels. Owens finished with ten digs and four aces, Camryn Armstrong notched seven kills, and Chantelle Haby added six digs. Kirby served up seven aces and had six kills.
Fort Campbell ended its season at 7-12, 2-5 in district play.
Christian County improved to 11-22 and will face UHA in the district-title match for the third straight season. The Lady Blazers took both regular season meetings 3-0 and 3-1 and will be seeking their fifth district title in a row.
