Receiver Rahsaan Lewis wasn’t quite sure when he saw Kentucky quarterback Will Levis laying on the ground after completing a pass to Barion Brown against Mississippi State.

“I wasn’t in (the game) and I didn’t see what happened. But the way I saw him run off (the field), something just told me he would be alright and come back out,” said Lewis.

“He came back out and I was like yeah, that’s Will, he’s a superhero. That says a lot about him. You can tell how much he loves the game, loves us, and loves UK and doing something like that is a lot.”

“So we all love him and fight for him. We kept telling him we’re gonna fight for you.”

Levis hurt his shoulder taking a hit and had to go inside for X-rays. He sprinted off the field with a trainer trailing him but came back and led UK to the victory.

“I had a feeling he was coming back,” Kentucky associate coach Vince Marrow said. “Then I heard the crowd roar. I did not know he was back and he comes out in a full sprint.”

That’s when Marrow knew Kentucky would win the game.

“He just ignites our whole team,” Marrow said. “There’s just something about him. He has those intangibles that are going to make him the top pick in the draft. He is the real deal

“Sometimes you have got to play injured in the league. He can do that. He is a great leader. Just having him come back out inspired us all.”

Marrow admitted he was frustrated when Kentucky lost to South Carolina when Levis was out with a foot injury but so was right tackle Jeremy Flax and linebacker Jacquez Jones.

“We didn’t have that juice. But let Tennessee lose their quarterback. Let Alabama lose their quarterback,” Marrow said. “It’s not easy. You can see what impact he has on our team.”

  1. Will’s desire to win (at all costs) is what moves the players around him. That is called leadership. Back in the day when I was in the military we would ask ourselves "who would we want to go into battle with if we go"". The guy that leads from the front, that’s who. We’re lucky to have Levis. He’ll do well in whatever he finally does in life.
