Sophomore libero Eleanor Beavin thought Kentucky played its best back-to-back matches of the season over the weekend when it swept Auburn Saturday and then again on Sunday.

“Being mentally locked in, that was the best we have done because we have not had two sweeps in a row all season. That was really big for us to come back with the same mentality (for the second-day sweep),” she said.

Kentucky proved that Beavin’s feeling about the best play was no fluke when it battled at Georgia Wednesday to pull off another sweep. The Cats won 27-25, 25-23, 25-17 to improve to 15-6 overall and 10-2 in SEC play. Florida is also 10-2 and hosts Missouri tonight. Georgia is 8-4, Ole Miss 6-5 , LSU 7-5 and Auburn 7-5.

Beavin says if the team can stay healthy, which has “been a big battle” this season, she is confident UK will finish the season strong.

“Trying to stay consistent when our lineup is not consistent is hard. Now that I feel like we have a good lineup going, that will carry us through the rest of the season,” she said. “I think that is a big factor for us but you can’t help if you have injuries, so you have to have the mindset to prepare for every game the same way no matter who the team is or what the record is.”

“We have some really good teams coming up, so we are going to be focused.”
