Coach Ryan Perry acted quite pleased Saturday with his Lyon County Lyons after the Lyons picked up a pair of scrimmage wins. The Lyons took part in the Calloway County Jamboree at the CFSB Center at Murray State University.

The scrimmages were made up of four ten-minute, running clock quarters, except for the final sixty seconds, with the score reset after each quarter.

In their opening game of the day, the Lyons took on Clarksville Academy. The Lyons won all four quarters, 22-7, 19-10, 18-17, and 19-17, for a total of 78-51. The first quarter saw the Lyons’ defense cause Clarksville Academy significant issues as it pertained to getting their offense set up, as Lyon County bolted out to a 9-0 lead. For the game, the Lyons would finish with eight steals.

Travis Perry hit for 27 points, Brady Shoulders 19, and Jack Reddick 11.

The Lyons also won all four quarters in the scrimmage against Calloway County, 18-12, 13-7, 11-8, and 18-11, for a total of 60-38.

Lyon County started slowly in the opening quarter, as Calloway County jumped out to a 12-5 lead. After a scrum in the paint, things got a little ‘tense’, with the officials calling the two teams together to have a discussion about what was taking place. That appeared to be a spark for the Lyons, who scored the final 13 points of the opening quarter.

Travis Perry finished the second scrimmage with 25 points. Bradin Nelson had 9 points, while Brady Shoulders added eight.

Lyon County is set to officially open the season November 29 when they host Ohio County.
