Junior Luke Parker returns at the quarterback spot for the Tigers.

The 2022 Caldwell County football statistics have been finalized and some new names will be added to the Tiger Football Record Book.

Caldwell had two long interception returns for touchdowns that are among the longest in school history.

Freshman Cooper Mobley’s 96-yard pick-six against Ballard Memorial tied for the second-longest in school history while the 94-yard TD return by senior Logan Chambliss against Crittenden County is the fourth-longest.

Donovan Dame holds the record by returning an interception 97 yards for a touchdown in 2001 against Crittenden County while Lucas Green had a 96-yard interception return for a score in 1993 at Reidland.

Senior running back Jamus Carneyhan came up just 27 yards short of becoming the 26th 1,000-yard rusher for the Tigers. He finished 27th on Caldwell’s single-season rushing list with 973 yards.

Carneyhan did register the 48th 100-tackle season in 69 seasons of Caldwell football, leading the team with an even 100 stops.

Sophomore quarterback Luke Parker completed 13 straight passes, which is the second-longest Caldwell string. Parker was a perfect 11-for-11 in the Tigers’ win over Trigg County in the regular-season finale. He also completed his final pass in a 23-20 win over Murray the previous game and connected on his first pass of Caldwell’s loss to McLean County in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.

That ties Parker for the second-longest Caldwell string. Shane Burns completed his first 14 passes in a win at Henderson County in 2015. Joby Jaggers hit 13 straight completions in a victory over Paducah Tilghman in 2018.

Interestingly, though, the “Tiger” record predates consolidation, with Princeton Butler High School’s Billy “Cowboy” Jones completing his final 17 pass attempts in a 13-13 tie at Ridgeland, S.C., on Dec. 8, 1939.

Sophomore Gus Fox recorded six quarterback sacks this season, good enough to tie for 17th on the single-season list.

The 2022 Tigers opened the season with five straight setbacks before winning four of its last five regular-season contests. Caldwell also picked up a forfeit win over Christian County in the season opener, giving the team a 5-5 mark before falling to McLean County 15-7 in the first round of the playoffs.
