Kentucky eclipsed the century mark for the first time this season in their 106-63 blowout of South Carolina State on Thursday night at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats were coming off a gut-wrenching, double overtime loss to Michigan State in Tuesday’s State Farm Champions Classic – a game where Kentucky’s offense was mostly Oscar Tshiebwe or bust.
On Thursday, though, Kentucky saw 12 players score and shot a much better percentage from both the field and behind the three-point arc. The Wildcats were led by 17 points from sharpshooter CJ Fredrick, 13 points in 17 minutes from Chris Livingston, 12 a piece from Cason Wallace and Lance Ware with 11 points from Antonio Reeves.
No, the competition wasn’t what Kentucky faced on Tuesday. There’s no denying that. However, the Wildcats executed on bouncing back in a big way ahead of their premier matchup with Gonzaga that lies ahead on Sunday. Kentucky has all of the momentum after Gonzaga was blown out by Texas on Wednesday night. Kentucky will have a two-day break before they suit up in Spokane, WA for Sunday’s game. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM ET with the broadcast scheduled for ESPN.

No, the offense is not on track! We just won a game against inferior talent. That doesn’t mean we ran better offense. Yes, we’re able to score over smaller opponents! I still didn’t see us run any plays that would help us against better talent.
