A University Heights Academy cheerleader will be performing in the 96th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Thursday morning in New York City.

Sloan Hampton, a senior cheerleader at UHA, auditioned for the opportunity in mid-July and received her invitation to perform with Spirit of America Productions in late July.

Sloan is spending six days in New York City rehearsing, touring the city, and performing. In addition to the performance on NBC, Hampton will have the opportunity to meet cheerleaders from all over the country, appear on the TODAY Show, attend Broadway musicals, attend the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, and more.

In addition, the cheerleaders will have an opportunity to make a difference through the Spirit of America’s community service-based program “Spread the Spirit”. She will be collecting gloves, beanies/toboggans, socks, and toothbrushes that will be donated to the Association to Benefit Children.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC Thanksgiving Day morning.
