
The Christian County Colonels opened the 2022-23 wrestling season with a fifth-place finish Saturday at the Harpeth Invitational in Tennessee.
JaRi Campbell opened his senior season by winning the 120-pound class. He won by pinning his first three opponents and defeated Fairview’s Henry Ribble by a 6-3 decision.
Kevondre Young finished in second place in the 113-pound class. He won his first three matches by decision before falling to Brentwood Academy’s Cash Waymire in the championship match.
Omarion Wimberly took second place in the 220-pound class. He won his first two matches by fall and claimed a semifinal win by 7-1 decision over Aiden Elmore of Franklin, Tenn. In the championship match, Wimberly dropped a 3-1 decision to Wilson Central’s Noah Todd.
As a team, Christian County scored 116 points to finish 4.5 points behind fourth-place Sycamore. Wilson Central easily won the team title with 294 points.
