The Todd Central Lady Rebels came up just short of getting off to the program’s best start in more than 25 years Thursday night. The Glasgow Lady Scotties used an 11-2 run to open the 4th quarter to come from behind and take a 44-40 win over the Lady Rebels, handing them their first loss of the season.

Behind a big start from Alexis Taylor and a strong defensive effort, Todd Central took a 13-8 lead after the opening quarter. The five-point margin would still be in place as the second quarter ended with the Lady Rebels up 21-16.

Glasgow came out in the third quarter and cut into the lead. But, thanks to a big effort from Abby Williams, who scored seven in the quarter, the Lady Rebels were able to hold a 30-29 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Lady Scotties then limited the Lady Rebels to just two points over the first 4:50 of the final quarter as they used the 11-2 run to take a 40-32 lead. Glasgow would then hold on for the four-point win.

The loss overshadowed another big game for Alexis Taylor, who finished with 21 points for Todd Central. Abby Williams added 7 points, all in the third quarter, while Jamya Kay ended up with six points.

Kaidence Byrd was the top scorer for Glasgow with 14 points. Ashton Botts added 11 points.

Todd Central falls to 5-1 with the loss. The Lady Rebels are back on the court Saturday when they host Monroe County.
