After coming close to their first win of the season in an overtime loss at Webster County last time out, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers dominated from start to finish in Thursday’s 63-22 victory over visiting Clarksville Northeast.
The Lady Tigers turned defense into offense to effectively put the game away in the first quarter. Up a point early on, Hoptown used the press to fuel a 16-2 run and lead 21-6 after eight minutes. Kahtahvia Fleming had two steals and scored seven points and Faith Dansbury added five.
De’Aijah Tullis came up with a pair of steals and scored on back-to-back layups to stretch the advantage to 21 points early in the second quarter. Shiyah Forte added baskets on a layup and a drive, and Ta’Ria Sharber closed the half with a pull-up jumper for a 39-14 Hoptown lead at the break.
Hopkinsville cruised through the second half, with Forte going six of eight from the free-throw line in the third quarter. Sharber scored five of the Lady Tigers’ 11 points in the fourth.
Fleming scored a game-high 13 points, followed by Forte with 12 and Sharber with eleven.
Hoptown moved to 1-3 ahead of an 8th-District showdown with Christian County on Saturday.
