
A second-half rally fell short for the Christian County Lady Colonels in a 67-56 defeat at Hopkins County Central on Thursday. As a result, the Lady Storm moved to 3-1, while the Lady Colonels slipped to 0-4 ahead of an 8th-District matchup at Hopkinsville on Saturday.
The teams were tied 10-10 after the first quarter before the Lady Storm surged in front behind nine points from Emile Jones. They outscored Christian County 20-9 to take an 11-point cushion into the break.
Sarah Harris led the charge with six third-quarter points for the Lady Colonels. Evanna McGregor and Anaysia Bagwell combined for eight to help Christian County shave five points off the margin.
However, a pair of seniors stepped up to seal the game for the Lady Storm. Jones posted ten points to finish with a game-high 20, and Brooklyn Clark chipped in seven for Hopkins Central’s third-straight win.
In addition to Jones, Clark and Calajia Mason reached double figures with 11 points each, and Mercy Sutton finished with ten.
For the Lady Colonels, Bagwell scored 17, McGregor had 11, and Harris added ten.
