Caldwell County’s wrestlers turned in a strong showing at the Neal Wilson Invitational at Benton, Illinois, on Saturday.
The Tigers went 4-1 in the dual-match tournament, placing third out of 16 teams in the event.
Caldwell was one of only two Kentucky teams in the field. Calloway County was the other.
Caldwell swept three pool matches, defeating Mt. Carmel 60-13, West Frankfort 39-33 and Camp Point 48-27.
In the semifinals of the tournament, the Tigers dropped a close match to Tolono 42-39.
Tolono went on to beat Benton for the championship.
Caldwell, meanwhile, handled Fairfield 57-12 in the third-place match.
The Tigers had five wrestlers go 5-0 on the day — Logan Brown at 120 pounds, Colin Teutsch at 126, Cofy Walls at 132, Timothy Nichols at 138 and Cole Sherill at 215.
All five of those wrestlers are undefeated for the season, starting the year 11-0.
Caldwell will host its annual Armstrong Tiger Classic on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the CAB gym.
