Strong 2nd Half Helps Caldwell Girls Put Away Livingston

Caldwell County’s girls took the lead in the second quarter and put together a strong second half to win 41-34 at Livingston Central on Monday.

A long 3-pointer off the glass by A.J. Hollowell at the halftime buzzer sent the Lady Tigers to the break with a 22-18 advantage.

The Lady Tigers never trailed in the second half but Livingston kept the game tight until the very end.

Caldwell (3-4) led 32-28 after three quarters.

Livingston (4-2) got within 32-30 early in the final stanza on two free throws from Victoria Joiner. But the Lady Cardinals could get no closer.

Caldwell held Livingston to just one field goal in the fourth quarter and just six points total.

Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers took their biggest lead of the night at 39-31 when Ka’Myiah “Tink” Clark hit one of two free throws with 56 seconds remaining.

Clark put the game away with two more charity tosses with 15 seconds left, giving Caldwell its seven-point margin of victory.

Clark tallied 12 points to lead the Lady Tigers while Hollowell added nine points. Jakhia Copeland had 10 rebounds to go with five points.

Joiner paced Livingston with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Maggie Downey had nine points.

Caldwell has taken three straight from Livingston and nine of the last 10 meetings. Caldwell’s girls hold a 73-23 advantage in the all-time series.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Hopkinsville. It’s varsity only at 6:00 for Caldwell’s girls. Hoptown’s guys will play Webster County in the late game.
