The Lyon County Lyons will head off to Fairdale and the King of the Bluegrass this weekend packing a five-game winning streak. The Lyons delivered a knockout blow early Thursday night and rolled to an 85-51 win over the Hopkins County Central Storm in Eddyville.

Central took an early 3-0 lead on a three from Trevahn Jones, but Lyon County quickly and powerfully responded. The Lyons ripped off a 15-0 to go out 15-3 and never looked back from there. Lyon County would lead 23-11 after the opening eight minutes.

With Hopkins Central resorting to a high percentage of three point shots to try and get back in the game, Lyon County was able to put the pedal down on their engine in the second quarter. The second eight minutes began almost exactly as the first quarter, with Hopkins Central hitting a three followed by the Lyons going on a run. This time it was a 13-0 burst from Lyon County.

With the ‘Three Amigos’ of Travis Perry, Brady Shoulders, and Jack Reddick cranking things up, the Lyons would extend the lead to 49-26 at the break.

From there it became a matter of what the final score and margin would be. Lyon County led 75-37 after three quarters. With the running clock in play, the fourth quarter played out quickly with the Lyons rolling on to the final 34 point margin.

The Lyons were led by Travis Perry with 26 points. Brady Shoulders finished with 18. Jack Reddick completed his night with 17 points.

Drake Skeen was the leading score for Hopkins Central with 12 points. TreVahn Jones had 8 points, all of them coming in the first half of play.

Lyon County moves to 7-1 on the year. The Lyons will take on Harlan County Saturday night in the opening round of the King of the Bluegrass.

Hopkins Central falls to 2-3. The Storm will host Russellville Friday night in Mortons Gap.
