If Anna Boone played Trigg County 20 times a season, she would put up numbers good enough to be named first-team all-state.

The Crittenden County freshman scored 21 points and grabbed four rebounds to help the Lady Rockets beat Trigg County 54-34 Friday at Wildcat Gym. It’s the second time in three meetings against Trigg that Boone has topped 20 points.

She hit 8-of-12 shots from the field and 4-of-5 at the free throw line, scoring nine points in the first quarter when Crittenden built a 17-point lead and eight more points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Rockets outscored Trigg 16-10.

She served as the early catalyst when the Lady Rockets rolled to a 20-3 lead after the first eight minutes.

Trigg didn’t help its cause by missing its first nine shots in the paint. Crittenden’s zone bothered Trigg all night. The Lady Wildcats shot just 29-percent from the field (11/37) and was 1-of-9 behind the arc.

Crittenden County shot just 34-percent from the field but as the Lady Rockets do, they got to the free throw line 26 times and knocked down 20 (77%).

After the initial rush of points by Crittenden County, the Lady Wildcats were able to trim the deficit to 10 points on three occasions in the second quarter, including a 27-17 score at halftime.

Trigg got as close as nine points early in the third quarter but an 11-2 Crittenden run put the game out of reach.

Taylor Guess, who became only the sixth player in district history to top 2,000 career points earlier this month, also had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Rockets. Elliot Evans added eight points and six rebounds.

Olivia Noffsinger led Trigg County with 13 points and three steals, while Kara Hyde added 10 points and six rebounds.

Crittenden County outrebounded Trigg 36-20 and scored 15 points off 17 Lady Wildcat turnovers.

Crittenden County moves to 3-0 in district play and has the inside track at the top seed in the postseason tournament.

Trigg County is 1-2 in the district. The Lady Wildcats will play at Muhlenberg County Monday.
