
Fulton County remained unbeaten this season, improving to 7-0 by turning back Caldwell County 70-63 Saturday in the second annual St. Mary Christmas Classic in Paducah.
The Pilots took a 31-25 lead to halftime, then spent the second half holding off the Tigers.
Caldwell was outscored only 39-38 in the second half but is now 1-7.
Fulton County got a balanced scoring attack, led by 20 points from Jayden Smith and 17 from Omarion Pierce.
Willie Campbell and JShon Jones each had 14 points for the Pilots.
Caldwell was led by Collin Whittington’s 23 points. JayDarius Wilson returned to the Tiger lineup and scored 18 points. Zavy Bumphus added 13.
Caldwell and Fulton County were meeting for the first time ever.
The 1st Region schools swept four games from their 2nd Region counterparts in the St. Mary tournament.
The host school handled Fort Campbell 82-41, Carlisle County downed Dawson Springs 90-56 and Ballard Memorial topped Livingston Central 66-51.
The tourney then wraps up on Tuesday.
