Cory Trice has opted out of playing for Purdue in the Citrus Bowl and has declared for the NFL Draft.

Trice had 34 tackles, 10 pass deflections, and a pick-six for the Boilermakers in 2022.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound defensive back is listed as the 66th-rated cornerback and 631st overall prospect by NFL Draft Buzz. However, Trice possesses good length and athleticism and could land as a 6th or 7th-round draft pick.

Trice will have a chance to impress NFL scouts at Purdue’s Pro Day and at the East-West Shrine Game in February.

Trice has reportedly signed with an agent and will not play in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Jan. 2 against No. 16 LSU.

After suffering a season-ending knee injury two games into his 2021 season, Trice battled back to regain his starting spot in the Boilermaker secondary.

In 30 games as a Boilermaker, Trice registered 106 tackles, 15 pass deflections, and five interceptions.

Despite missing four games with a foot injury during his senior season at Christian County High School, Trice was named First Team All-State and was the Class 5A District One Player of the Year. He scored six touchdowns – three on defense and three on special teams – in 2017 and finished with 14 career interceptions.
