Rebels Reach .500, Extend Trigg’s Skid to Three Games

After starting the season 6-0, Trigg County has now lost three games in five days. The latest came Saturday in Elkton as Todd County Central nearly led wire-to-wire in a 75-60 win over the Wildcats.

Preston Rager hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the opening quarter as the Rebels built a 10-point advantage.

Jamison Glass, who ended the first quarter with a blocked shot on the defensive end and dunk on the other, scored nine points in the second quarter as the Rebels built a 14-point lead at intermission.

Jhaden Vaughn, who scored a career-high 34 points the previous night against Crittenden County, tried to lead a comeback in the third quarter. She scored 10 of his game-high 26 points in the frame as Trigg cut the deficit to 59-49 entering the final eight minutes.

Rager scored eight of his 19 points in the final quarter to help stave off any Wildcat rally.

Treyvon Foster added 19 points for the Rebels, who evened its season record at 5-5.

Luke Washer hit four of Trigg County’s eight 3-pointers. But the Wildcats were done in by 18 turnovers.

Todd County Central leads the all-time series with Trigg County 44-27, including a 24-7 mark in games played in Elkton.

Both teams are part of Trigg County’s four-team KME Classic that begins Monday at Wildcat Gym. Todd County Central plays South Fulton, Tenn. at 6 pm, and Trigg County plays Thomas Nelson at 7:30.
