Playing their fourth game in just 72 hours, you have to wonder if the Lyon County Lyons, after playing the very last first-round game of the 2022 King of the Bluegrass Saturday night, were a little leg weary as they took to the court Tuesday evening against the North Oldham Mustangs in the 3rd place game of the annual holiday tournament.

Meanwhile, North Oldham had played their opener Friday afternoon, was off until Sunday afternoon, before playing in the last game of the night Monday.

Whatever the case, the Mustangs hit the Lyons early and never looked back, rolling to a 107-73 win at Fairdale High School. The Lyons had their second cold shooting game in a row, hitting just 36.4 percent from the field, including just 23.8 percent from behind the arc. The shooting was cold across the board for the Lyons as no starter hit 50 percent or above from the field.

South Oldham led 23-13 after the opening quarter. That lead grew to 46-29 at the half. And, the Mustangs did not slow down in the second half, in fact, they put the pedal down hard.

South Oldham put 31 points on the board in the third quarter as they ran the lead out to 77-56. The Mustangs would then continue to pull away over the final eight minutes, scoring 30 more in the fourth quarter reach the final 34-point margin.

Luke Anderson and Dallas Roberts had 22 points each for North Oldham. Anderson also had 15 rebounds.

While Lyon County was frosty cold, the Mustangs were anything but. North Oldham hit 59.6 percent of their shots, including 61.8 percent in the second half.

The loss drops Lyon County to 9-3 on the year. The Lyons will not take much time off. They are set to take on Caldwell County Friday night in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic.
